Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted via email for the job I applied and I was told he got it from LinkedIn. He sent me interview questions. I complied. A day after I got a call from Stephen Reed (or claiming to be) that I got the job. I filled out forms. He has my passport info, my bank info for paycheck purpose (supposedly) and my proof of address. I purchased home office supplies and a lot of check printing supplies and MICR printer, computer and many more. I was told I will be reimbursed. I started working about 4 hours a day from 5/26/2020 until 6/18/2020 because my check and reimbursement that I mobile deposit was deemed by my bank counterfeit. He contacted me again today 6/22/2020and said he will get the issue ironed out. I demanded that I need legitimacy/verification of my employment because I was informed By my bank that my employer maybe a scam. I called the website phone number and spoke to woman in the Indiana office. She immed told me that there is a scam going on about hiring. I asked her to check my name and check if I am officially hired as the executive assistant of Stephen Reed. She sounds a bit fishy by the way because she was dismissive and she cannot even tell if they have hired for the post already or not. She has to asked me when was I hired. And she finally said No, that I am a victim of a scam.

Thank you for sharing. I have received an email with something similar from Stephen Reed and I am forwarding it along to the official company email for their review. I appreciate the head’s up or else I might have accepted!
