I received a text message on 2/12/2019 from a company claiming to be "The Premier Intelligence Shopping Company" and the site they have supposedly run by Sights on Service, Inc. They were offering mystery shop jobs for Money gram/CVS/Walgreens and offering to pay $300/shop payable by cashiers check, money order, or direct bank deposit. I am a secret shopper therefore I know what to look for. I was instantly skeptical so I looked up information through ScamPulse.com as well as MSPA sites. This is the exact text message received from them :

I received a text message from a gmail contact. Once I clicked on the message it directed me to the website page davaoprints.com. I read through the long passage and there was a button to apply. I clicked on the button to apply and it directed me to another page with a false application to put in my personal information. I figured it must be a scam to get your personal information. I’m not sure how they got my number nor was there any information on the company, their address, or their number.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I initially received an email through my university account that appeared to be sent by someone from the university. It read that "The Premier Intelligence Shopping company is accepting applications for qualified individuals for a Walmart shopping survey…It’s fun, rewarding and you choose when and where you want to shop". The email went on to say that you aren’t obligated to complete any assignments and that the company will provide you access to training materials and so on. I followed the link to sign up, and the website claims to be recruiting secret shoppers, and that they will pay you to confidentially survey services and overall experience of the assigned store. The website goes on to say that there is no charge to become a shopper and you do not need previous experience. Also, at the bottom of the one-page website there is a ScamPulse.com logo and some other official logos. I proceeded to fill out the application form which asked for my name, email, phone number, and address. Then it asks how you would like to receive funding for your tasks, and provides the option to either enter your bank account information for direct deposit or simply receive a cashier’s check. I chose to go with the check. I wasn’t expecting anything more than maybe a phone call to further discuss my application, but I got a packet in the mail three days after filling out the online form that included a cashiers check for the amount of $2,900.00 and instructions (which I’ve also attached a picture of). The instructions ask you to text/email someone once you’ve received the packet, so I texted the number and continued reading. I received a text back that thanked me for confirming, and prompted me to deposit the check as soon as possible so I could complete my task. The next step was to deposit the check into my personal bank account, and once the funds became available, I was to deduct $400.00 for myself, $100 to cover transportation and any fees I might encounter, and the rest I was to wire from 2 Walmart locations nearest me,($800.00 to each recipient) using Moneygram and Walmart2Walmart services. The packet claimed that the money was to be used for the purpose of visiting and patronizing the services of a Walmart store and Moneygram outlet. It also gave a deadline for the assignment which was to be completed three days after receiving the packet. It further mentions that when wiring the money, to say no if asked if I was a secret shopper, and to answer yes when asked if I know the recipients in person. At this point I was skeptical so I looked up the premier intelligence shopping company on google and came across an article on the real secret shopper website that warned against scams like such, and which led me to believe that the check I received in the mail is most likely counterfeit, and the purpose of the scam was for me to receive the funds and wire the money before the check was cleared by the bank, and that by the time I learned the check was fake, I would be out the money I sent and responsible for the bounced check.

Text message to my mobile phone with a tiny.cc link to an employment application for a mystery shopper. The scam explains I will receive a check to complete a mystery shopper assignment, and I am to return unused funds. For each assignment, I am to receive payment of $300. The application looks legitimate, and the link says the company is ScamPulse.com approved, but it is not.
