Type of a scam Debt Collections

I receive a VM from a blocked number that said it was an "urgent message" & gives my full name with a reference number. Calling about a pending complaint that may be filed against me. I need to call back to discuss the pending "actions" with the firm in charge on my file. I was given 877-629-6843, but that is a different phone than the website, but I called both numbers & got the same person. The VM also said that this call has been "logged & submitted as proof that I have been notified of this pending matter. Failure to respond, will result with the department proceeding without consent".

This phone number they gave me pops up on a possible scam list with a ton of complaints just like my experience from Sept 11th to Sept 23rd. Nothing before & nothing since so they must switch phone numbers.

This same message was received at my work, on my cell, my wife’s cell, & my brother’ cell all within a couple hours.

I called them back to see what information I could get out of them. They had my address, last 4 of my SS#, & obviously several contact numbers. I refused to confirm any information & they wouldn’t tell me anything else. When I voiced my concerns about the legitimacy of the situation, they told me I should have been served papers in the last 48 hours at my home address. Great scare tactic that I might have missed them since I was at work. Unfortunately for them, I have my house monitored & no one I couldn’t identify had come to my door in the last 2 weeks. After calling 4 different numbers that one day, I have not received any more calls & no papers have been served.
