I responded to a job announcement on Indeed for a Front Desk Receptionist at The Crazy Sofa. He contacted me via email, telling me about himself and the job and saying that he was impressed with my resume. He asked additional questions, told me this would not be an office based position, since he is traveling frequently, would be part time, offered me a salary of $750 weekly no matter what my hours were, and then said he would send me instructions via email or text.

I asked several questions about him and the company itself and did not get a reply. He then sent me an email, asking more questions, telling me I was hired and I would be receiving instructions shortly.

Today, I received a fraudulent check in the mail from a company I did not recognize. I had no way of knowing it was from him until after I received an email from him stating that he had sent me a check, to deposit it in my account, purchase flights and secure a hotel for him to Singapore. Then, he texted me to let him know when the deposit was made.

I called the company whose name was on the check directly to find out why I received this. They told me the check was fraudulent. Also, they sent me addt’l information that since I called, they had received quite a few calls from others who had received checks, cashed them, sent him money and then their accounts were charged the money, because the check was fraudulent.

Since my first contact with him, I had a serious computer hack and today, froze my credit reports and online banking.
