Type of a scam Tech Support

I would like to report this company as a scam. A screen popped up on my computer saying I had a ZEUS virus. It had an accompanying phone number (1-877-624-3165) it said to call to resolve the issue. The screen was frozen, the message box said it was Microsoft/Windows. So I called the number and the tech (an Indian guy) sounded professional with the busy office call center sound in the background. I explained what had happened and he said he needed remote access to fix the issue. He gave me instructions to open the RUN box and enter a code. I did, he then had access. He pulled up all of these screens with numerous error messages (red and yellow everywhere), opened up my security, and began to explain how my security was for Windows 8 but I had Windows 10. He then began to explain packages to me that I needed to purchase "from Microsoft" to rid the issue and remain protected for 3 years with Microsoft tech support for the first 3 months. It didn’t feel right so I told him I was going to call Microsoft directly to verify everything before I turned over any money. He persisted for a while then eventually hung up on me. I have no idea HOW they did that virus maneuver before I gave them access. They seem to be internet predators and someone needs to stop them.
