Total money lost $30

Type of a scam Tech Support

I was working on my computer when a notice popped up on the screen telling me that the machine had been compromised and world freeze if I ignored the notice. There was a number to call for assistance from Microsoft. The scammer then led me to a site where I was instructed how dire my need was –but they could fix it. The product cost $399.99 for two years of protection. I paid with a check that they photographed. About ten minutes later a tech claiming to be from Microsoft asked the details of what I had purchased. He said it was a scam–but that Microsoft would refund my money as long as I had a credit card they where they could deposit the money. Foolishly I gave him my credit card number–then he asked if I had another card, just in case that one didn’t work. The people worded on my computer for about an hour. The next day I called to cancel my credit card and I put a hold on the check. but I am concerned that they will harm my computer once the check doesn’t clear.

I keep getting a call from this scammer, regarding a computer virus I supposedly have on my PC and the person on the line wants me to log in my computer and give him some information so he can "take care" of it for me. I have asked this person to not call me anymore, yet I’ve gotten at least 4 calls from him in the last month or so. I finally asked for a name and number, in case we got disconnected, so I could finally report this person. I’m sick of it. His name is Victor at Tech Squad number 1-877-753-9167
