Type of a scam Tech Support

As I was using my computer, I suddenly received a warning pop-up that my computer was compromised with a dangerous virus, and urged to call the toll-free number shown on the screen. When I called that number I was told that in order to save my personal data the technician I spoke with requested off-site access in order to remedy the problem at that time as well as from future attempts to invade my secure computer. Having just updated to Windows-10 I asked if my current security system McAfee wouldn’t be sufficient and was told that McAfee would not work on Windows-10 updates. The caller assured me that his company, Tech Achivers, located in Chantilly, Va. acted as a third party for Microsoft to remedy problems like the one I was faced with. In order to receive life-long protection from further virus attacks I needed to pay a fee, which I unfortunately did. Growing suspicious I contacted Microsoft directly to find out what their service policy was and if this company was actually appointed as a source to handle computer security issues for them. Microsoft told me that they have no record of this company and provided security protection for their Windows-10 customers through their own security protection department. I have been trying to find any information on Tech Achivers ( not Achievers) through various channels without success, and I am convinced that this a scam that I unwittingly fell for. Since I paid via credit card I also contacted that company asking to file a claim against Tech Achievers. Buyer beware has never been more true!
