Type of a scam Employment

I applied for a job through indeed.com and I was contacted through a text message for employment. I was told that they would conduct the interview through Google Hangouts. They told me it was a work from home job and they would send me a check to buy equipment and software for the job based from home. Today, my mother called me and she told me that I had and overnight envelope through FedEx and when I opened it when I went downstairs there was a check for $3,689.00 and a letter that was sent along with it which I will attach below. As I went more in depth I noticed that the return address on the Fedex envelope was to a warehouse & the call back number was out of service. There were also other questionable red flags such as there was no number to call anyone and so on. The name of the person I supposedly had an interview with on google hangouts was named Beatrice Holland and the person who texted me was Danielle Woods. This is the third time this month I have been scammed for employment when searching on Indeed.com and I don’t feel safe. I just graduated from college and I’m having a difficult time finding employment and these scams are making the process any easier. I truly hope that this issue can be resolved for me and other job seekers.
