Type of a scam Tech Support

I had a popup on my computer that turned out to be a virus, that froze my computer up. I then called what I thought to be my anti-virus company (after googled number). The lady that answered said her company handles technical support for my anti-virus company. I told her what the problem was and she said she could remove it. Assuming this was part of what I paid for annually, I agreed to let her have access to my computer. She then installed software that would "clean up" all corrupt files and as I watched the scan of my files, she said there would be a charge of $149 for license key to remove corrupt files. I then realized this was a scam. When I refused to pay, she said, "well, how are you going to get these files off your computer?" I hung up and was able to track down correct number for my anti-virus company and they walked me through and helped remove virus/corrupt files AT NO COST as part of my technical support.
