Type of a scam Phishing

I received a letter with the "synchrony" logo and an address of PO Box 1448, Southeastern, PA 19399 stating that the state of Colorado required them to notify me "that [my] unclaimed property may be transferred to the state if [I] do not contact them within 30 day from the date of this letter". The letter had a check number, check date, check amount and an account from "Jewelry Express". If I returned the letter they would re-issue a check in the amount stated. I googled all of the information and found that Jewelry Express was a company in Indiana and I am sure I did not make any purchases from them on or about the date stated. When I googled the address it stated that the post office there was closed and it gave me a list of scam alerts. I did not mail the letter or provide any personal information. The letter had my name and address and the only other information it asked for was my printed name and signature and phone number. There were too many discrepancies so I decided the best course of action was to report this incident.
