Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted by David L Pearson from Sykes Enterprises for a work-from-home opportunity that I found on a job site, ohiomeansjobs.com. I did an interview via google messenger and then was hired after about 15 minutes, all without every talking to a real person. I did some research and found Sykes Enterprises was a legitimate company so I didn’t think it was a scam until they sent a check via email to print and deposit using my mobile banking app, but when I called to verify the check’s authenticity and was alerted that the account number was not valid. I also found an article depicted almost the exact thing that happened to me.
