My friend who is a Army soldier sent me a package of his personal belongings and personal documents for me to hold on to them till he returns home. I received am e mail from the courier company stating his parcel was being held in Canadian customs and that a $2200 fee was due in order to release the package to me. I told them I did not have the money. We went back and forth for about a week. Finally I asked if I can set up a payment plan to get his belongings. They said yes I could pay half and they would send the package. I was given banking information for a personal account in NY. I questioned why I was sending a payment to NY if the package is being held in Canada. They told me I needed to handle this matter as urgent before the package is seized and auctioned off. On May 25, 2018 I wired $1100 to the account given. It took about a week to clear. As soon as they got confirmation they sent me another email asking for more money. I refused and contacted customs myself to be told the tracking number supplied to me is a fake. I contacted them requesting a refund and they are no longer responding to me and kept his package.
