Type of a scam Employment

I applied at internship.com and searched for entry data jobs. I decided to search part-time and virtual. I got many results but some included degree upon hiring. I decided to apply for Novitex for part-time and no experience or degree were required for hiring. I applied and 2 weeks later I received an e-mail notifying me Novitex contacted me. The email said I had to add [email protected] to chat via online. So I added him that same day which was 1/19/16. That same day(1/19/16) I got interviewed. He introduced himself telling me he worked for Strategic Staffing Solutions and that he was one of the hiring manager assistant. After the introductions, he began to interview me via chat on Google. It was a formal interview asking me my strength and weaknesses and why I would like to work for them. He then told me he had to review my answers with the other managers and he would respond back to me in 25 minutes.

Later I received his message telling me I got hired. He then began to explain to me that I would be receiving a check and a laptop. I would first receive a check to cover my cost for work materials. I then had to complete 3 tasks prior to receiving my laptop. The laptop would come already installed with the software needed for me to complete my tasks. He then told me follow up with him tomorrow (1/20/16) on the check and for my task.

the following day(1/20/16) I received my task which was writing 2 paragraphs about "how to prevent Overdue accounts in an accounting sector or business" and later on I received my check through Fed Ex.. With the check came a letter regarding with what I should be doing with that check. Also in the letter it mentioned I had to contact Oskar Tomaszewski, who is Financial Officer, once I received my check. I contacted Mr Parker and Mr Tomaszewski. They both wanted me to deposit the check that same day and Mr Tomaszewski wanted me to email him a picture of the check deposit slip. I then refused to deposit the check that same day. I began to feel uncomfortable with the whole process of doing this.

What makes me believe this is a scam is first the way Mr Parker contacts me. It is always via chat on Google and when I receive emails from him, he doesn’t have a signature at the bottom of his emails regarding to the company. What I also found strange was the letter than came with the check. The letter was not formally written. There was no signature, stamp or any logo on the letter showing it was from a business. It obviously looked like the letter was written in Microrsoft Word using regular font. Also I have a friend that works in a Bank and told me the routing number on the check doesn’t exist. The check came from a Eagle Equity Investments Realty and Property Management. the check is signed below. The other thing I find odd of that check there is no seal or stamp or different color wave marks on it. It is just a solid colored check.

Once I began to inspect the check I told Mr Parker that I was no longer interested in furthering the process of working with them. He told me that he understand why I would feel uncomfortable and that I am in safe hands with the company. I kept repeating myself to Mr Parker I am not interested in working for them anymore. He later said I would receive a call from the head of the management team to ensure me about the validity of the job and the company.

I have yet to receive that call today (1/21/16).
