Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Received check USPS priority mail for 2800.00, was a detailed letter in envelope to be an”undercover” surveyor. Cash or deposit check and buy $2400 worth of gift cards from two separate Walmart’s as well as $25 merchandise from each store. Was instructed to keep $350 for myself and a $100 bonus if I did everything quickly! I was to evaluate several things at each location and text different messages when each task was complete. Then the instructions were to photograph the cards and send to text number given or email. So glad I googled it and found many people who reported it as a scam. I am usually very cautious with questionable emails, etc., but I don’t even remember this email or how they got my address.
