Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I was contacted by a *** *** about an administrative assistant position from Sterling Biotech that was work from home. I was wary immediately, and he wouldn’t begin my training until I had my "materials". I was sent a cashier’s check for almost $5k to pay for a computer, printer, and software, and was told to send him a deposit receipt once finished. My bank flagged it as fraud and Vilas, angrily, told me that it was "my accounting task to complete" and to do a mobile deposit to get the funds. I am turning the check into the bank it was copied from and reported them on several sites.
