Type of a scam Employment

I got an email from someone who wanted to interview with me. They wanted to interview on Google Hangouts (never an in-person interview, even after I was accepted). After a 2 hour interview and 3 hour wait "Ken Rimple" and his "team" decided to hire me. He sent me an employment offer letter to boot! I was told I couldn’t speak to anyone outside of google hangouts and was going to be delivered a check that I was meant to deposit to buy a bunch of incredibly expensive things (like a mac book, this was graphic design work). I was trying to be optimistic and waited for the check, anytime I tried to get information from him "policy" wouldn’t allow him to tell me anything. So I finally received the check (Overnighted Fedex envelope with a Plain white letter envelope with my full name on it, middle name included, and a flimsy cheap paper check with no logo or any official information on it) and he was messaging me constantly saying how imperative it was to get the check to the bank and deposit it "through the ATM". I had my mom with me and she messaged him back saying she was gonna get the police and media involved and he wrote "you should apologize since you were being so mean to me" and when she threatened to release the info he said "go ahead". This ordeal had been going on since 6/14/19 and its now the 6/26 and I’m very tired of this whole ordeal, but its finally done. I didn’t deposit the check because I knew that the whole thing was fishy. Thank you for reading. "If its too good to be true it probably is!"
