Type of a scam Utility
Received called (10:00 am) from unknown phone number. Male asked for daughter, when told that she was not in, he asked for head of household by last name. Proceeded to explain that he was from Southern Cal Edison and that he had a disconnect order for 11:00 am for lack of payment. He stated that several statement and notices had been sent to the address and that no payment had been made. He then asked if I could make the payment via a phone check. I hung up on him.

I received a call saying SCE was going to disconnect service for late payment and had to pay via a "cash card" to avoid disconnection. Calling them gives you the same recording/outgoing message as if you were calling the legitimate SCE.

they tel you that your electricity will be cut off in one hour unless you pay a fee (which will be reimbursed in a week) to switch it on in the next hour…..you have to go to Ralphs and pay for a money pack and then call them back with card ID.
