Type of a scam Identity Theft

A "wireless caller" called saying they were from the Social Security Administration and that there were legal charges brought against me. They required to that I verify the last four digits of my social to be informed of what the charges were. I refused and they said they wouldn’t tell me then and that I would be contacted by law enforcement for follow up. They said I could just hang up the phone if I didn’t want to give them the last four digits. I reluctantly provided the information and they proceeded to tell me that a vehicle I rented was found abandoned with blood, money and cocaine inside and that there were charges brought against me for drug trafficking and money laundering. They then said they would transfer me to the department that would resolve the issue and that there everything would be taken care of.
