Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received an email about a Walgreens Secret Reviewer (Shopper) position and I responded to it. Then, I received a Priority Mail envelope that contained an instructional letter and cashier’s check for the amount of $2,495.48. The check was from HomeTrust Bank. The instructional letter indicated that I deposit the check, pay myself $300, and use the remaining amount of about $2,160 to purchase eBay gift cards. Also, I received approximately three (3) text messages from Tony Edison informing me to comply with the instructional letter. Tony Edison’s text came from phone number (330) 641-1841. The phone number to text in the letter was (612) 444-7813. I did not deposit check and reported incident to the United States Postal Inspection Service.
