Smart72 had a special furnace check-up for $44, I love a bargain. First thing, I was told I had a cracked heat exchanger, three pics on his cell of my cracked heat exchanger that looked fake and said carbon monoxide was over limit @ 14 ppm, fire hazard, should not use, furnace not safe. He wanted to leave furnace dismantled but I said no. I signed a disclaimer form in case something bad happened since I would not agree to the outrageous price of $7,500 to install new furnace. He then made a call, said he could give me better price of $6,000 today only. Also, duct work in attic was bad, needed repair, can poke a finger through it. And my furnace is too big for my condo, need smaller unit. I knew their price was two or three times normal which I was glad I knew this, BEWARE, get other quotes (if you really do need a new furnace). I later called a reputable company who checked my furnace, said no carbon monoxide, no cracked heat exchanger. I also called P.G.&E. who reported no hazards. This company is associated with Home Depot-don’t know why they do business with them. Home Depot should know about this.
