Type of a scam Online Purchase

I work at a small family owned use vehicle dealership in Bensalem, PA. Part of my job is to post our cheaper vehicles onto websites such as Craigslist and OfferUp. I posted a Toyota vehicle on Craigslist and received an inquiry from a "Julia" direct from craigslist, asking for our e-mail so that her father can e-mail us, (already suspicious). They did the same for 2 other cars we posted. I passed on the e-mail even though all of our inquiries and replies get sent from our e-mail already anyways… I then got a e-mail from "Shawn Parker" "[email protected]". They asked if the vehicle had any issues, we replied that it did not, he then asked if we could get him a title report from "athreport.com" because his loan officer wouldn’t give him a loan unless he got a report from that website specifically. I clicked on the site and noticed it asked for $24 for a report. I didn’t get the report and instead e-mailed him back and gave him the vehicles’ VIN (which was already on its’ craigslist listing) and told him that he can get whatever report he wants himself. He e-mailed us back the following….

"To be able to come , see , test and make a deal for it face to face , i need the report so i can pass it to my loan officer and make sure he will allow me to buy it .

I need the report because the loan company ask for it .please go to https://www.athreport.com and get one . will not make sense for me to get one because i can`t re use it like you can , you will be able to give it to all you potential buyers , me on the other hand if will not be ok i will gave to look for a new vehicle and get a new report .

I know is only $24 but if i have to run 5 reports until i find an ok report where will i be ?

If the report will be ok you can consider it sold.

regards

P.S if is about the money i will add the $24 to the final price "

His insistency has led us to believe this was a scam and when doing further research we found out it more than likely was. After receiving that last e-mail I simply replied that we are not interested in doing business with him.
