Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Just a heads up. Schlesinger Group is a legit company but This person claims he is a Survey Evaluation Co-ordinator for the company. (He isn’t)They weren’t aware of this fraud happening using their name, so they are contacting the proper authorities to come after this guy. I had received a text that I was picked for a Mystery Shopper. I did apply online but I don’t know how he got my info. Anyway, they wanted to let me know they were sending via USPS an envelope with questionnaire and a check for ***. I was to make a deposit into my bank account, wait till it cleared and continue my task. I received the envelope next day and texted them to confirm I received the check.

When the check cleared I was to purchase two separate gift cards at *** each (***, *** for my participation on survey evaluation payment and *** extra) and they would tell me what to purchase. They didn’t say what I would do with the items afterwards. Funny the address on the envelope was from a PO Box in Los Angeles and his cell number in Colorado. So I was apprehensive and cautious. It seemed too good to be true.

I contacted the Schlesinger group and they don’t have any such Mystery Shopper Surveys. They told me it was a scam and they were going to report to proper authotities. Also I sent an email to ScamPulse.com and they told me it was a scam too. So I’m reporting this Scam so everyone out there is aware of it and not be taken by it. He almost had me fooled but always go with your gut instinct. I hope they catch this person. Indespicable!
