Scammer Posing as Medicare

My elder Mother received a phone call this morning and I think it was a scam. The person told her they were Medicare calling about her free back brace and asked for her personal information including her SSN and she told them. She has not asked for or discussed with doctors of needing a back brace although they somehow knew she has severe back problems. I’m reporting this so other families will be aware and can remind loved ones not to give out any personal information. At this current time we’re not aware any money has been taken because she just received the call a few hours ago. She did not get an address, number or any of their info nor did they provide other than saying they were Medicare.

A female called saying that she represented Medicare and we could receive free braces. We provided our names, addresses, date of birth AND Medicare numbers (which includes our social security number). She said she’d have a doctor call back to make appointment.
