Type of a scam Employment

Was texted identifying a work from home opportunity. Was told name of hiring manager and given a code to contact this person via hangouts. I was to notify this person of the code.

Once I did this I had contact with hiring manager explaining the job position opening and asked if I wish to continue with interview. Once saying yes it was like any typical interview. Then was told to stay close as hiring would happen immediately once approved by managers supervisors.

In 15 minutes I was told I had the position and a letter of employment would be sent to my email.

I received the letter entailing job description, benefits and starting pay.

Was told I would be getting a check in the mail (unknown amount) as a startup for my office to purchase a laptop, including company software, 3 in 1 printer and other items that would be sent to me to purchase. I was to use their certified vendor to make these purchases. They said included with this check would be $100 bonus that I should pull from bank after 24 hrs.

They said I was to contact them the next day via hangouts to let them know if I had signed letter of employment and sent via email to the "Talent Acquisition Specialist." I did not sign because I felt it was a scam. I did however make contact next day. I did not hear back until following day. Then again the next I told this hiring manager of my concerns. He said their word was their bond and it was not a scam. He said they would send the check out. I responded by telling him my bank will hold for three days to confirm legitimately. I had no further contact at this time. Will wait to see how far this goes. They would not give me any contact numbers to confirm. They said all that info would be given to me the first day of training.
