Type of a scam Rental

I was looking on Streeteasy for a ‘no-fee’ 1 bed room apartment and found this particular one. I was contacted by Sam Nakash. He told me to call his number. I did. I went to view the apartment. The apartment he showed me was at a different building and floor. He told me that the listing was wrong and he told me to not worry about the fee. My friend was there with me and is a witness to it. He told me that it is a sought out apartment and he had four people later to view it. He said if I give $500 deposit and $65 application fee, he will take it off-market. I did. Initially, he said first month and security. After clarifying, he added, last month rent. Then he added that there’s a brokers fee. I told him that the listing said no-fee. He said that he told me that the listing was wrong. Long story short, it was a bait and switch. The $500 deposit was cashed, but the $65 application fee was not. My credit score was not checked either. I looked on DOS for Sam Nakash. There is no license by that name. Renters, beware!!!
