Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I listed a set of tires and rims on Craig’s list. Asked for cash only. This guy texted and said he was interested in it. We heard nothing else for a day and then the next day, the guy called and said he wanted the tires and rims. Told me he would send a cashiers check made out for the amount we asked plus an extra amount for the person who would be picking the tires up. He said he just moved out of state and was sending some shipping company to pick them up and I was to pay the guy the extra money out of the cashiers check.

About five days later, we received a cashiers check that was made out for the price of the tires and rims plus an extra 1200.00 supposedly for the guy picking up the tires. The check looked fake and we sent him a text back that we knew it was a scam and we would be reporting him. We heard nothing back after that. Sellers, please be aware !
