Type of a scam Employment

I was referred to this person from another company that I interviewed with and the employment type was a supposed personal assistant. At first it sounded great! Virtual personal assistants and the flexibility to work with my schedule seemed great. When I received the first check that I was supposed to deposit into my account of $3250, I wasn’t comfortable running it through my personal account in case it was a scam, and when I emailed him about it, he told me to just put it in my account so that I could use it to run errands for him. I never did it, and I don’t feel comfortable with it.
