I got a call from a woman named Sarah about an inquiry I made. I have been looking for a place to live and contacting many places. She told me to call Lexington Law Firm and create an account, and call her back with the number. I called her back with the number, she was supposed to email me a list…that was April 4. Still haven’t heard back from her and I’ve been getting the run around from Jessica and another lady whose name escapes me. It’s a program focused on people with bad credit. They didn’t ask for any money but now I am questioning if Lexington Law Firm is in on it because I paid them $109.00 plus $14.99 for my credit report.

My name is ***. My husband and I have been talking about moving out of the state and he came across a Craigslist ad for a company called Rent to Own. I contacted them because it seemed like a good opportunity, I spoke with a Woman named “*** ***”. She told me that my husband and I would need to go through a credit repair company and make our first payment with said credit repair company and then she would send us listings in the state we were looking to move to. My husband and I never gave out our SSN, but she took down all other info including our current address and how many children we have. *** then transferred our call to “Lexington Law Firm” to work on our credit report. We talked to a man ( I can’t remember his name) but we asked about this Rent to Own company and he told us that Lexington gets a lot of customers from companies like the one “***” works with, but couldn’t verify that specific company. He seemed to be working with the actual Lexington Law Firm, so we went ahead and gave all our info to him.. we have emails from Lexington Law website and everything with them seem very legit. Since talking with Lexington and getting all the credit repair stuff taken care of my husband and can not get ahold of *** *** or the Rent To Own company, we have called every day for about a week and we either get put on hold for over an hour or we get an automated voice saying they are no longer able to record voicemail and we are message 1,004. I talked with my husband and he finally agreed that we should report the “ company” if only to help another family avoid this scam. I will attach the application I was sent but never actually sent back. The email I got says it’s from Kate Simmons? I never spoke with anyone other than “*** ***”. I also have a phone number that I have spoken to her on.

I found this rent to own add on craigslist and on there local web page and called for information they seemed legit asking plausible questions for the situation and not asking for any financial information over the phone through email or on the application how ever they ask a $14-15 dollar deposit for services and credit score information. replies were prompt until they received my information and then they fell off the face of the earth. the number I had originally been in contact with no longer picks up or works at all sometimes and the emails are now unresponsive. I had a friend in coding look into the situation by means of a digital foot print and found the domain and phone number were registered falsely and under incorrect names. do not use this service to find a home the name of the scam artist is Charlie Shrem and last known registered address is 200 west 34th street new York, new York zip code 10001. I highly advise staying clear of him and any business his name may be associated with.
