Type of a scam Debt Collections

The first call I received from the company was just a recording that the company was collecting a debt and would like to speak to me privately about the matter. I called back in and the individual immediately asked for my personal information with no indication of the company he was collecting debt on behalf of. When I told the representative that I was not going to provide personal information without some background information, he said he would note my refusal on my record. I offered him the option to mail the information to my mailing address on file and he said he was unable to meet that request.

I just ended the call by stating this call felt like a scam and he said good luck with the account.
