I was told as a valued client of Royal Bank Visa, they would like to lower the interest rate on my visa card to 3% for the rest of my life. They asked for my husband’s date of birth as a security question. He then asked for the expiry date of my card. He also confirmed my address. He told me the first four digits of my credit card and asked me to confirm the last 8 digits of my card. I refused to give him the information. He was very persistent. I asked him to tell me what my card numbers were as he would have the information in front of him. I told him that I would like to speak with someone at the Visa toll free line before I go any further. This conversation lasted almost 20 minutes. I hung up on him and called the Visa toll free line and cancelled my card.
