Caller identified himself as Michael, and he was with the Publisher’s Clearinghouse Mega Millions Sweepstakes. Called her over a number of days. Told her that she had won the Mega Prize of 7Million+ dollars. Said that she had to pay taxes on the money. After she sent that money, she was told that she had to pay ‘insurance’ to have the money sent from NY to WV. Wanted to have a 3rd payment, but victim finally decided that something wasn’t right and told her family what was going on. Caller also had people calling to verify legitimacy, including someone impersonating an FBI investigator. Made connections with the victim, had answers for EVERY question that was asked. Stated that he had just delivered another prize to a couple in another WV town, and he would be coming to deliver victim’s prize asap. Stated that with the current COVID-19 situation and the rioting that was going on, his schedule had to be changed a few times, and delivery of the ‘winning check’ couldn’t be done on the original date, as planned. Victim was harassed day and night with phone calls from different out-of-area and out-of-country numbers.
