Type of a scam Tech Support

I received a voicemail from iSecure, a tech support company to which I paid $500 18 months ago to supposedly protect my computer, that they received information that my computer was again infected.

They said the Torpig virus was on my computer, that there were international foreign addresses on my computer, that Microsoft was in danger of crashing, and that my IP address and network were compromised.

They said they could not fix it and referred me to Protectera. They told me that no one else could fix this problem (such as Geek Squad or other tech companies) and scared me into thinking that if I didn’t fix it with them, I would be in danger of losing everything on my computer.

I stupidly agreed to pay them $250. I attempted to stop the check after I realized what happened but it was too late. They wasted no time in taking my money. Oh by the way they refused to take credit cards. I had to provide them a check number and all my banking information by phone.
