Type of a scam Tech Support

I purchased and tried to install McAfee to protect my computer and when entering the information to install it; a pop-up appeared on their site that directed me to call the posted phone number. It said it couldn’t be installed and that I had to call the number posted in order for them to fix it. Unbeknownst to me, I was trying to protect my computer by purchasing McAfee and yet when on their website I was scammed by a pop-up on their site that directed me to call a scammer. I called and they said they could fix it for me if I allowed them access to my computer by Go To Assist Customer. He told me that my computer had been hacked by numerous foreign addresses, but he could remove them for $400.00. I gave him a credit card number and a little later he said it wasn’t taking that credit card and I gave him another credit card number. He also called that credit card company with me on the line to okay the charges. After him telling me that my computer was hacked; he also said that he could provide credit card protection because I shop on-line, for an additional $200.00. By the morning; everything about it seemed wrong and fishy. I called the McAfee number listed on the packaging of the product I bought and they informed me that I was not speaking to them and that I was scammed. I immediately called both of the credit card companies and stopped both of them.
