Type of a scam Online Purchase

We had been looking for a Golden Retriever puppy for a couple months. We ran across this so called Breeder that went by the name of, Premium Goldens. They would only contact us through email as their phone number we later realize was no longer active. We were very interested in their puppy, Jefrey, as he was exactly what we wanted in a puppy. The man assured us that the puppy had received his up-to-date shots, vaccinations, and had also been neutered, house and crate trained at 11 weeks old. The breeder had told us for an additional charge of $200 he would ship the puppy from Georgia our us in Culpeper, Virginia. We saw that as a very convenient opportunity to receive a very well puppy. After the Breeder supposedly “dropping off the puppy”, we received a suspicious email requesting we pay an additional $1760 fee to insure the “puppy” was delivered to us safely and in timely form. After calling the “breeder” with concerns we learned that all of the phone numbers on the website were not activated, we received a call from a random number that claimed to be the Breeder saying the USDA required us to pay that fee to ensure the delivery of our puppy. We have yet to hear from the “breeder” since then.
