Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

A male called my number at 9:45 pm. The number that he called from was a New York, NY number. He started out with, “hey, I don’t think we have ever talked before but I know you’re interested in a loan from your business…” I told him no and to please take my number off of his list. He got an attitude then hung up. My husband called the number back with *67 in front in order to come up as an unknown caller. He said the exact thing to him. My husband said that he doesn’t have a business and the guy put the phone up to very loud music then hung up.

Type of a scam Phishing

I have received 3 calls from the number (219) 354-2084 which purports to be from a company named "Premier". Each time a woman on the other end asked me to confirm my name and the last 4 digits of my SSN, which she stated and which were in fact my actual name and last 4. Each time I have refused and asked the name and address of her company and the nature of the business which she was calling me in reference to. She refused to provide that information and insisted that I confirm my identity. She then stated that they, (whomever they are) sent me correspondence through the mail.

I am a private investigator by trade and I have access to databases which allow me to perform very in-depth background searches on people, addresses and phone numbers among other things. I performed one such search on the number from which she called and received a negative result. This is highly suspicious of someone claiming to be contacting me from a legitimate business. This number is likely an off the shelf prepaid "burner" phone or possibly a proxy or "spoofed" number.
