Type of a scam Credit Cards

Just found out why I wasn’t receiving my emails, Verizon.Net is now AOL so was told by a Verizon Tech to go on line to AOL.com to walk me through the steps. Be careful when you do this because I called the first number I saw (844)307-7658 and spoke with a gentleman that told me he could help but needed me to authorize him to get into my computer, in which I did. He then told me that my email was hacked and they charge $399.55 for a lifetime membership for tech support and security from hackers and asked for a credit card. I told him I did not have a credit card and could they mail me information about their services first and I could send them a check. He said no, they must get paid first that is when I hung up. This is a scam.
