Type of a scam Charity

I mistakenly picked up the phone thinking it was a family member. The caller said I was hard to get a hold of and his name was Chris and he was representing the Police Legion Fundraiser. He said the call was being monitored. He asked if he could send materials. No info was given and I hung up. This number or a similar number calls my Home frequently and I do not answer. I called the number back and told him to quit calling and I was reporting it to the FTC which I did #95846283. He said he would put me in the “Do Not Call List”
