Type of a scam Tech Support

POF offers both a paid and free membership for their online dating services. After having an account with them for years that had recently been deleted, I just opened a new one with all conditions of the company being the same. After a few days logging in and out, I found my password was not working. The website gives you the option of either resetting password or retrieving a forgotten one. A link is supposed to be emailed to you to do either. After numerous attempts nothing was sent and I was finally able to get someone on the phone. I was told by two customer support people that the conditions have changed, it’s no longer free and the only way I can get back in is to give them a credit card number. They also told me my account has been hacked by someone in Ohio but they won’t share how they know – it’s because they are technicians. They both also wanted full remote access to both my phone and computer; "this was the only way" to see what the problem is, but if I upgrade my account they will let me back into it. They completely avoid the question of why can’t I just get the reset link. When I requested the account just be deleted, they both hung up on me. I know at least 10 people who are all able to log in and out of there.
