Type of a scam Online Purchase

Online, advertisement for Marilyn Denis’ skin care line. Says that she is leaving her television show to concentrate on her new line of skin care. A sample was advertised with a shipping fee of $4.95. I gave my credit card number to try a sample. I have NEVER tried anything like this before. The package came by Canada Post on the day promised and, surprised by such a generous sample and that there were two different products included, I phoned the 1-800 telephone number before opening the bottles. I was told that I was sent a 30 day supply of face cream and, since the deal was a 14 day supply, I was to use half of the bottles and then send it back within 21days. I said something like “What kind of free sample is this?” And “this is going to cost me at least $20.00 to send back”. They supplied me with the address and RMA number to return it and, because I was kicking up a fuss, they told me that they would cancel my account. I had the product so, even though I was not pleased, I thought that I may as well try it. My VISA card came shortly afterwards and on it I was charged $4.95 US twice. I again phoned the 800 number and asked why it was in US dollars when Marilyn Denis is a Canadian show and my package was sent CANADA POST with aCanadian return address. Also, I did not ask for two bottles which resulted in two charges for shipping.

Now, my free sample is $6.68 CAN x2, over $13.00.

Two days ago, I watched an episode of Marilyn Denis and she stated that No, she was not leaving her television show and No, she has no skin care line and knows nothing about it….it is a scam! She had brought in a tech expert to show people how to identify a phoney adverisement online and it was recommended that we report any scams to the ScamPulse.com.

I had also contacted my VISA card company to see what I should do, from their perspective.

I used some of the product, but have not sent anything back and I am not planning to due to the cost of shipping. I am hoping that I won’t be charged more on my credit card for my FREE sample.
