Type of a scam Tech Support

My wife received calls from 516-899-8999 for weeks, several a day. She did pick it up on 9/4/2015 and was told that it was Microsoft Technical Support and his name was Wesley. The license for the products we have is invalid and we had viruses and our computer would be destroyed. She was instructed to download an applet from www.helpme1.com to give him remote access so he can show her what the problem was. He opened files for "tech support" and showed her "infected files and an expired license for Microsoft. All of our accounts are in my name and not connected to her phone number, and he needed to ask her for mine. I was out of town and when she did text me informing me of the conversation he had kept her on the phone with access to our computer for 40 minutes. He gave her the number 800-690-3683 for me to call after she repeatedly told her I dealt with the accounts. When she would hang up he would call back with a frequency of every 30 seconds until she picked up. I googled both numbers and the 800 number is connected to a site called techgenie 24/7 run by People Connect USA. I told her to pick up the phone and give him my number. He called but did not know my name for my "accounts of Microsoft" and I informed him that I had researched his scam and contacted Microsoft with all this information. I actually had to report a scam. I informed him that my accounts were current and that Windows 10 had no associated fees for licensing on my PC. I asked him about his company and he was trying to show me websites that were not the ones I had found on my PC remotely, still connected. He said Microsoft outsourced to People Connect USA and I need a lifetime license and warranty for my lifetime license for 200 or else. told him I wasn’t at my computer and he shouldn’t be connected bc the internet was off. Ultimately, he wanted 99 dollars or else our computer would be destroyed. I told him I didn’t believe he was anything but a scammers and that he should never contact either number again he told me I was about to find out what would happen if I didn’t take care of the problem. I asked if he was threatening to hack and sabotage my computer and he told me never to contact tech support again.
