They claimed to be calling from the electric company, Peco energy and said they would shut off service without payment. They had all the account information already, including the social security number. They requested payment be made with the purchase of a "MoneyPak" card. $500 was lost. When you try calling back the 1-800 number they gave, it has an automated message saying it’s Peco but it doesn’t match up with Peco’s customer service number that is listed online.

Type of a scam Utility

Called to say we were going to have our electric shut off within the next two hours if I didn’t make a $3000 payment immediately because of unpaid past bills. We had no unpaid bills and insisted the only way they could make it right is to credit us all the past charges which would take a billing or two and we make the large payment by credit card. I called the utility and they said I was being scammed so I did report it to them.
