I had an online order placed on my Scentsy website on January 18, 2018. It appears that a hotmail account was compromised. The shipping notification email from scentsy was sent to here mail. The email that is circling is of the customers shipping notification that includes the amount that was paid plus the tracking information for the package. The email circling is from service/paypaI. It states that the recipient of the email has been charged using their email & their paypal account for the amount of 45.80 for product from Scentsy that should be arriving soon. It has at the bottom if there are any concerns regarding this order to contact their consultant. It gives a link to my Scentsy website & also my personal email. there is a link on there also instructing to click ‘cancel order’. Once that is clicked, it then takes you to a page wanting your personal info. Your SSN, mothers maiden name, birth date, your name, CC info.

I received the first email on the evening of January 22, 2018. Most of the emails came through my scentsy website requesting for me to contact them, where a very descriptive reasoning was wrote regarding the email they had received. I also received emails using my yahoo email address & also was contacted through messenger on Facebook. Many were very upset, threatening to turn me in for fraud. The email being sent makes it appear as I have sent them the email letting them know that I charged their account for Scentsy products dated on January 21, 2018. Scentsy does not take paypal as a form of payment. I do have a paypal account, but it is very rarely used. the last transaction I had on paypal was me paying for product to someone back in October/November time frame.

I contacted Scentsys IT fraud department. I will send you their response on their findings with tracing the emails. They did say they are confident that they have tracked down the websites that are linked to the email & that they have since been deleted.

I have received 1000 emails & counting, from people here in the states, Australia, New Zealand, South America & Canada.

I received an email today, the copy that she sent me shows that the order was placed on January 23, 2018. So I am afraid that fraudulent emails are still being sent out.

I have spoke with an investigator from the Fairburn, Ohio police department. They followed up on a report that I had been turned in for credit card fraud. I did explain everything in detail to him. I also then spoke with a Pennington County Sheriffs deputy regarding this matter. Mainly to see what I needed to do to protect myself with all of this, since I am a victim in all of this also. Both officers agreed that is all made sense in connecting with a phishing scam.

I have responded to each person who has contacted me letting each of them know that an order was never placed, I am not fraudulently charging them for anything & that the email they received is a scam.
