Total money lost $300

Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan

I applied for a small loan on the website www.paypowerloan.com and 15 minutes later a girl with a middle eastern accent named Amy called me. She said I was approved for a loan and all I had to do was buy a prepaid Pay Power Mastercard and put $300 on it. It was a “security deposit” for the loan and I’d have access to the funds immediately after the loan proceeds were deposited into my account. Even now I think how stupid this actually sounded and it screams SCAM! But I did it any way. Never had using a prepaid credit card before, I assumed you had to activate it with a pin so I thought it was safe as well “PayPower” was the name of the loan place and the Mastercard. Amy asked me to take a picture of the front and back of the Mastercard with my receipt for proof that the funds were on the card and email it to her at [email protected] Again, I was assured this was safe as I needed a pin not realizing the card # was the pin. After I activated the card which Amy told me not to, I saw my $300 balance. Within 10 minutes, I saw my balance go to $0. I called Amy to ask what happened since she told me the funds wouldn’t be touched and a male with a middle eastern accent named Shawn answered and refused to put Amy on the phone. Shawn told me my funds were on hold bcuz I activated the card. He assured me I’d get the $300 plus the loan deposited into my account within the hour and not to worry. An hour went by then Shawn called me back saying my loan was approved but I needed to pay “bank transfer fees” for another $250 before the funds could be deposited which I needed to do with another prepaid PayPower Mastercard. Since I work for one of the largest banks in the world for over a decade, I knew at that moment I was just defrauded as “bank transfer fees” don’t exist and if they did, they wouldn’t be $250. I played “Shawn’s” game for a bit in attempt to get my $300 back but he started screaming at me so I hung up. He called back twice. Then I wrote to the email address I sent my pics to and they replied by saying I’ll never get my money back, I’m a Hooker, [censored] and threatened to rape me. Please for the love of all things in this world, I’d do anything to help get these people caught. I then called PayPower which is the Mastercard card company to report the fraud and either they’re apart of it or they have terrible service. This happened a month ago and still no one from PayPower Mastercard has contacted me so I can report and get my money back. Beware of any company with the name “PayPower” in it bcuz it’s either a scam or they’re a terrible company.
