Type of a scam Identity Theft

I received an email that identified itself as being from my co-worker and pastor, as it used his name (but the email address was not his). The message read:

Hi (my name), Are You Available?

I need a favor from you, Email me as soon as you get my message.

God Bless,

Pastor ….. (Pastor’s Name)

Several people who work with us received the same email and one even received a text with the same message. None of us replied, so we aren’t sure what the scammer is trying to get.
