Type of a scam Employment

I received an email from Parktown Media. They did not say from what casting agency they found my information from. The email stated that I was going to get paid $*** dollars a day for a two day shoot. I thought it was a great opportunity until I re-read it, and caught some typos. And then I checked out the link to the company website. It turns out that the the director contacted me. Seriously? Directors don’t contact people. And a commercial without an audition seemed fishy to me.

Here is what they sent me:

I replied with my address, and saying I was interested. I did not sign the contract. But I got a reply email saying that the upfront payment was on its way. I received the payment via FedEx. The cashiers check looked fishy. It did not have the bank’s phone number on it. I looked up the bank online, and their logo did not match. I called the bank to verify if it was a real check. They told me that it was a fake. They asked me to fax them a copy of the check, which I did.

The bank employee told me that it was a scam. The sender requests that you email them a copy of the deposit slip. They tell you that the check will have a hold on it, until you give them a copy of the deposit slip. The bank employee told me that a person will take my banking information and access my account without my permission.

The company website does not have a phone number to contact them. They have a screen shot of their location on Google maps. I checked the map, and it belongs to Bank of the West.

Be careful.
