Type of a scam Employment

I have been job searching for the past couple of weeks using ZipRecruter. I received an email from a James Creech stating that he is looking for a personal assistant to run errands for him while he is out of town. So I accepted and then a few days later he sent me a check for $6980 to deposit into my bank account. Well I did deposit it. Shortly after I deposited it I spoke to one of my family members regarding this check and he looked it up and told me it was a scam. So I went back to my bank and pulled the check. I took it to the bank it was issued from and reported it to be a scam. While this bank did some research. It did turn out to be a fake check, so I turned it into the bank. Please be aware of what is going on with these scams. If it wasn’t for me speaking to my family about this I would be out of almost $7000 because of a bad check.
