Type of a scam Other

Door to door magazine/book sales. Young "troubled " adult selling magazines/books in order to earn points towards getting an education and turning his life around. He was from a troubled area in Chicago, here in Long Island to work for this company and better himself. Company name is Mailbox Media, 3820 W. Happy Valley Rd., #141-199, Glendale, AZ 85310. Seller showed me next door neighbor’s check and so I fell for scam also. After looking on-line and seeing this was a scam, I immediately put a stop payment on check and sent a copy of the notice of cancellation receipt which the seller had given me. The books purchased were for DayBreak Children’s Homeless Shelter. The check was for $96 for a two year subscription to Baby Einstein. The receipt the seller gave me was MBM 181036. The next door neighbor’s check he showed me was also in the $100 range, didn’t see exact amount. This would give him 300pts and he would make a 40% commission. The receipt had no phone # only the above address and website www.mailboxmedia.com and email [email protected] The address reveals a UPS store in AZ. On the copy I sent back to that address I told them I’m notifiying the ScamPulse.com and FBI.
