Type of a scam Credit Cards

Either via email or an internet pop-up I was invited to take a short online survey. The message said that I would receive a "free gift" worth over $50 for taking the survey. After taking the survey I was presented a gift list from which to choose from. Most all of the gift were useless, but, since I had one coming I select some "skin cream".

While checking out with my address I was prompted for my credit card information to pay a small ( $4.99 ) shipping fee. The next day I saw the fee had hit my bank account ( I used a debit card ) and the skin cream arrived about a week later. I had no use for it so it has sat unopened since. As I check my bank account today, I see a charge for $99.99 from "BuySkin" and called them to question this charge. They said that I had not received a "free gift" but that I had agreed to a "free trial" – that if I did not return the skin cream in 14 days I would have to pay the full price.

I know better but had a vulnerable moment falling for this scam. The company is "Origins of Youth". They gave me an address to return the product to which just happens to be near my house. Instead of mailing, I drove to this address only to find the unit vacant.

While there may have been small print somewhere that I did not see, I was misled into this purchase under the guise of "a free gift valued at over $50 for taking a survey".

Please help stop this shoddy practice.
