Type of a scam Debt Collections

Received phone call days after listing with the real Yellow Page directory in December of 2012, verified our address and phone number over the phone and then began receiving invoices for different amounts always totaling between $1200 and $3000. Wrote letter to the company informing them that we would report them to the ScamPulse.com and that this invoice would NOT be paid as we believed their actions to be fraudulent and had not agreed to any online advertising with their company. Continue to receive invoices and threats weekly, today we received a "final notice of court action- eighth reminder" stating that they would be taking us to court for this debt.

A previous employee of the company who was not legally authorized to represent the company signed a fax thinking it was a yellow pages contact info confirmation but apparently, it was offering some listing for a fee. I took her position a couple months after this and when this company (Open Business Directory, LTD) reached out, I told them that we were not interested in a business listing for a fee and the person who signed the formed was not authorized so cancel. It’s been three years now and they still send fax, mail, call trying to collect threatening to go to a debt collector. I filed a complaint with the FTC and told them that I did this so hopefully it helps.

Our office received a fax that appeared to be from the Yellow Pages Directory. This fax came right after I had received a call to update our Yellow Pages information. On the fax it had a large Yellow Pages logo in the upper left corner and bold large letters said THIS IS NOT A BILL and it asked me to sign and date the form and fax back. It had old contact information on the form and asked us to put down corrected information. We believed completely that this was merely an update request from our YELLOW PAGES ad. This was 10-5-15. On 10-30-15 our office received a fax stating it was the first REMINDER. We never received an initial bill. I immediately contacted them and inquired about the balance they were requesting ($1188.00). I was told I could "Opt out" but that had to be in writing. I immediately sent a fax asking to cancel, because the information given was not for an order. We continued to receive reminder notices with reminder charges added on. We also sent an email asking them to please cease and desist any further attempts to collect. They have continued with reminders and even threats to sue us for the money.

We received a fax requesting updated info for a California Yellow Pages. It even had the logo showung the "fingers do the walking". We sent it back with the corrections as there were a lot of things needing to be updated. A few weeks later we received an invoice for $1188.00. It was then that we noticed the fine print. The business is shown to be located in Bern, Switzerland and the Legal dept is shown to be in Dubai, UAE. Does not sound like the Yellow Pages we used to know.

Open business directory ltd claims to have a contract with your company for an online directory and then demands payment. The original contact claims it is not a bill. They do not seek proper authorization for the proposed transaction.

I received a fax that has the Yellow Pages logo on it with the fingers, that wanted me to return this data verification and order form before publication deadline, and in bold this is not a bill, in fine print states you are no obligation to make any payment unless you accept the terms of this purchase order, and the rest you cannot read since it came over a fax. I then verified our information and signed it. I then get a bill for $1,188.00 for one year subscription service, which I never ordered. They continue to send me reminder letters and adding in $25.00 reminder charges. I had faxed back and asked to please clarify why they were charging me and they replied in a letter mailed to me saying since I signed the initial fax, I was obligated to pay the charges, since they had already published our company name in the new directory, which they never sent proof of. I am now up to the fifth reminder threatening to register our company as bad debt with a credit bureau. I have received many of these faxes in the last couple years and have never received a bill for being in the phone book, they only wanted to verify the information.
