Type of a scam Online Purchase

On April 10,2020, I was searching the Target website for a thermometer. Target did not have one available however there was a thermometer advertised on their page. I clicked on the link and saw one that I was interested in. I decided to purchase the thermometer. Once I confirmed the order, the page looked strange and I sent an email to the company within minutes asking to cancel the order before it was processed. I did not receive a response. On April 22,2020 I decided to check the tracking number and emailed the company saying, "the tracking number doesn’t give me any information abut where the product is which leads me to believe that something isn’t right. I am requesting communication and a refund." I received an email on 4/25/2020 stating that it was on its way with a tracking number that gave no information. I sent a few more emails with delayed response with the company saying the same thing. After these encounters, I placed a claim with ****** to dispute and mediate this issue. On May 30,2020, I received the product which looks and feels like a toy. It is extremely lightweight as if there are no working components on the inside. I placed brand new batteries in the thermometer without any indication that anything works, there isn’t even an on/off button. I immediately emailed the company again to inform them of receipt and it not functioning on May 30,2020. On May 22,2020, I received and email stating to "let the batteries warm up". Since receiving the non-functioning product, I have not had any correspondence from the company through ******.
